This frosting is a match made in heaven for my Gluten Free Orange Cake. Gluten Free Orange Buttercream Frosting(Gluten Free, Can be Dairy Free) Created by jalene and her mom alene Makes 3 cups (Enough to frost a double round 8" or 9" cake) Ingredients:
Directions:
Note from jalene:If you're using Earth Balance instead of butter, know that at room temperature Earth Balance is pretty runny. Hence, when mixing, you will need less orange juice. You can keep the cake in the fridge once it's frosted to keep the frosting from "melting" more.

This next recipe is my go-to frosting. Since we started using this recipe, we have not bought a ready-made store container since! Frosting is seriously one of those things that is so easy to make and the ingredients are typically everything you already have, I'm surprised more people don't choose to make their own. It also tastes so much better to say the least! Those ready-made frostings taste seriously like plastic to me! They don't make them how they used to. :( Buttercream Chocolate Frosting(Gluten Free, Can be Dairy Free) Ingredients:
This frosting goes AMAZING with my gluten free chocolate cake. The combination together tastes so good, you would have no idea they are even gluten free! Betty Crocker has now made sure that all their frostings are Gluten Free which is great news for some people! In our home though we don't actually use pre-made frostings because there are too many added chemicals and fake ingredients that are just not healthy! Pre-made frostings just don't taste how they use to either! I remember as a kid BEGGING my mom for Betty's rainbow chip frosting on my birthday cake. Funny thing is, I tried it a couple of years ago and was shocked how much it tastes like plastic with rainbow chips! Needless to say, we always make our frosting from scratch now. I believe that once you taste a frosting from scratch, you'll have a hard time going back to a pre-made one again. So let this be a WARNING to you...try this frosting and you may never buy a pre-made bottle of German Chocolate Frosting again! ;) Now, this frosting isn't the healthiest thing I've ever made on this blog but if you need frosting, this is much better than it's pre-made version. I'm working on making it dairy free as well so stayed tuned for updates on that. YUM! Directions:
Tip from jalene:Don't care for nuts? Simply add 1 cup extra of coconut flakes instead of the pecans.
I love Pinterest! (Mostly for all the beautiful pictures of food!) I love scrolling through and picking out the prettiest dishes to look at. Isn't it funny how we judge (what we think a food tastes like) by a picture? Well at least I do sometimes! One day I hope to take amazing pictures like that of my food...until then you'll have to deal with my snapshots and take my word for it that they're tasty. Sorry! So this next recipe I found on Pinterest (because I love the picture!) (PS this picture is borrowed from the original recipe found on this website: here ) and I thought I could make that Gluten-Free and surely almost Dairy-Free! So here is my version of the Ho Ho Cake. If you are not concerned about making it Dairy-Free, simply sub regular milk in place of the soy milk. Each of these 3 recipes are great on their own as well if you would like to use them with other recipes. Enjoy! NOTE: * I make my own white rice flour in my Blentec Kitchen Mill. I use organic Calrose which is a sticky rice. It helps in binding together better. If you don't have Calrose rice flour you can sub in a 1/4 cup sweet rice flour for 1/4 cup of your normal white rice flour. Gluten-Free Buttercream:

OPTIONAL: Sprinkle toasted almonds, crushed candy cane, fresh berries, chocolate curls, etc. Note: *If you are not concerned about Dairy-Free Ghirardelli Chocolate Chips are just Gluten-Free and are cheaper than normal gluten and dairy free chips. **If you are not concerned about Dairy-Free sub 1/2 heavy cream for the coconut milk.
